Happy Halloween! ♡
I’ve been taking a little detour from my usual drawing, mugs, and laser-engraved creations lately to work on some just-for-fun Halloween projects with my family — and apparently once I started crafting Mario decorations, I couldn’t stop!
Our Mario Trunk or Treat ☆

This year we put together a Super Mario-themed trunk or treat, with our van transformed into a little Mushroom Kingdom scene.
A lot of the decorations were made from things I already had around the house and studio. The giant Piranha Plant was probably my biggest DIY project. I made it using boxes, backing boards, and paint I already had on hand. The square Question Block was much simpler — a box covered in yellow paper, with printed question mark pieces that I cut out and glued on.

The glowing Question Block was the fancy one! That one was 3D printed, and my husband handled the LED work so it could actually light up.

And, of course, I needed a Mario pumpkin.

I decided on the Super Star and tried pumpkin shaving for the first time instead of carving the design all the way through. I wasn’t entirely sure how it would turn out, but I’m actually really proud of my first attempt! The thinner pumpkin wall lets the star glow while leaving the eyes dark.

We had plenty of candy for our trick-or-treaters, but I also filled another bowl with tiny dinosaurs, mushrooms, and turtles for the kids to choose from. Those ended up being a surprisingly big hit!
Naturally, we needed costumes to go with everything. My kids were Princess Peach and Princess Daisy, the baby was our little Yoshi, and I came up with my own rendition of Queen Toadstool to join them. ♡
It was one of those projects where lots of little handmade pieces came together into something wonderfully silly and fun.
Princess Boo Finally Gets Painted

My other Halloween project had actually been waiting for me for a few years.
This Princess Boo figure was a downloaded 3D print that has been sitting unpainted on my shelf. While my kids were busy painting pumpkins, I started feeling a little left out — so I finally pulled her down and decided it was her turn!
I painted her by hand with acrylic paints, playing with pale blues, lavender, white, and pink to give her a soft ghostly color palette. Once the painting was finished, we gave her a few coats of satin finish.
She may have waited a few years for her makeover, but I’m so happy with how she turned out. She’ll look much prettier sitting on my office shelf now!
Sometimes it’s really nice to make something simply because it sounds fun — no product listing or convention prep required.
I hope everyone has a wonderfully creative, spooky, and candy-filled Halloween! ☆
